Terms and Conditions
Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SlyAcademy website and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using SlyAcademy, you agree to be bound by these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use our site or services.
Please read these Terms carefully. They form a legally binding agreement between you (“you” or “the user”) and SlyAcademy (“SlyAcademy,” “we,” or “us”). We provide a global, donation-supported educational platform offering free text guides, quizzes, and informational content on various topics, including AP exam preparation, business and finance (e.g., cryptocurrency), medical and mental health education, and general wellness. Our content is intended for learning and informational purposes only, as further described in our disclaimers.
By using SlyAcademy, you also agree to our Privacy Policy and other policies referenced in these Terms (such as our Disclaimer, Children’s Privacy Policy, and DMCA Policy). If you are using SlyAcademy on behalf of an organization (such as a school), you represent that you have the authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.
Eligibility (Use by Minors)
SlyAcademy is intended for users of all ages, but there are special rules for minors:
Users Under 13: If you are under 13 years old, you may not create an account or submit personal information on SlyAcademy without a parent or guardian’s verifiable consent. We comply with COPPA, which means we require parental permission before collecting personal data from children under 13. Children under 13 should use the site only under direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or teacher, and any account or registration should be made by the adult on the child’s behalf.
Users 13 to 17: If you are at least 13 but under 18 (or under the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you must have permission from your parent or legal guardian to use SlyAcademy. By using the Service, you affirm that you are either (a) 18 or older, or (b) between 13 and 17 and have your parent/guardian’s consent. We may ask for a parent’s email to verify consent for these users. The parent or guardian of a minor user is responsible for the minor’s activity on SlyAcademy.
We reserve the right to ask for proof of age or parental consent at any time to verify compliance with this section. Accounts or usage that violate the above age requirements may be suspended or terminated.
User Accounts and Security
Account Creation: Some features of SlyAcademy might require creating a user account (for example, to track quiz progress or to comment on content, if those features are available). When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. Do not impersonate anyone or use false details. Keep your account information updated if it changes.
Account Credentials: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login credentials. Do not share your password with others. If you suspect any unauthorized use of your account or a security breach, notify us immediately. SlyAcademy is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account information.
Account Usage: You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. Please use caution and common sense when interacting on the platform. If you post content or communicate with others (such as in any forums or comment sections we may offer), ensure your behavior is respectful and lawful (see “Acceptable Use” below).
We may offer social login (e.g., signing in via Google or other services) for convenience. If you use those, you must comply with the third-party’s terms as well, and you give us permission to access and use certain information from that account (like your name and email) as allowed by our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable Use and Conduct
We strive to maintain a positive and safe learning environment. By using SlyAcademy, you agree to the following rules of conduct:
Lawful Purposes: You will use the Service only for lawful purposes. You will not engage in any activity that violates any applicable law or regulation while using SlyAcademy.
No Abuse or Harassment: You will not harass, threaten, bully, or intentionally upset or embarrass other users. Hate speech, discrimination, or any content that is defamatory or obscene is strictly prohibited.
No Unauthorized Access: You will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of our site or services, other user accounts, or any systems or networks connected to SlyAcademy. This includes not attempting to circumvent security measures, probe for vulnerabilities, or launch denial-of-service attacks.
No Disruption: You will not interfere with or disrupt the operation of SlyAcademy. This means you should not introduce viruses, malware, or any other harmful code, and you should not attempt to overload or spam our systems.
No Commercial Exploitation: SlyAcademy is a free educational platform. You agree not to exploit the content or services for commercial purposes. For example, you may not scrape our content in bulk to republish on another site, and you may not use our quizzes or materials as part of a paid service you provide to others, without our explicit permission.
User-Generated Content: If SlyAcademy allows you to submit any content (such as comments, answers, or forum posts), you agree not to post anything that infringes on someone else’s rights (including intellectual property rights), or that violates any of the standards above. You remain responsible for the content you post. We do not pre-screen user content, but we reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
Violation of the above rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your right to use SlyAcademy, at our discretion. Serious violations (such as illegal behavior) may be reported to law enforcement authorities.
Intellectual Property and Content Use
Our Content: Unless otherwise noted, all materials on SlyAcademy – including text, graphics, logos, videos, quizzes, and articles – are the intellectual property of SlyAcademy or our content suppliers and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use our content for your personal, non-commercial educational use only.
You may download or print materials for your own learning (for example, printing a study guide for offline reading or saving quiz questions to practice). However, you must not:
Republish our content on another website or platform (except via brief quotations with proper attribution, or as permitted under “fair use” or similar copyright exceptions).
Sell, rent, or sublicense our content.
Distribute our content in bulk (such as uploading our guides or videos to another service) without our written permission.
Remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices from copies of our content.
Your Content: If you submit any content to SlyAcademy (for example, a comment on a blog post, or if we have a feature where users can contribute study tips or questions), you retain ownership of your content. However, by submitting content, you grant SlyAcademy a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and display that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service. This license is necessary for us to display your contribution (and, if appropriate, to modify or remove it if it violates rules or we need to format it for the site).
You also represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to the content you submit and that our use of it as permitted by you will not infringe any third-party rights. We are not responsible for user-generated content and do not endorse any opinions expressed by users.
Trademarks: “SlyAcademy” and our logo are trademarks/service marks of our organization. You may not use our name or logo in a way that confuses others as to our affiliation or endorsement of any product or service, without written permission.
Donations and Financial Transactions
SlyAcademy does not charge for access to content; instead, we accept voluntary donations to support the platform. By donating, you acknowledge:
No Purchase Required: Donations are completely optional and are not required to unlock content or features. All users, whether they donate or not, have access to the same educational content. A donation is a charitable or voluntary contribution to support SlyAcademy’s mission, not a payment in exchange for goods or services.
Donation Processing: Donations made through our site will be processed by third-party payment providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, or similar). These processors handle your payment details securely. We do not store full credit card numbers on our systems. By donating, you agree to the payment processor’s terms and understand that your payment information will be handled by them.
No Refunds (General Policy): As donations are voluntary and not tied to a product, they are generally non-refundable. Under normal circumstances, we cannot provide refunds for donationsvsointernational.org. However, if you believe a mistake has occurred (for example, you donated the wrong amount or donated twice by accident), please contact us as soon as possible. We will review requests on a case-by-case basis and, in our sole discretion, may issue a refund in exceptional cases (such as accidental duplicate donations or other extenuating circumstances). See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for more details.
Recurring Donations: If you choose to set up a recurring donation (monthly, annually, etc.), you may cancel future donations at any time. Cancellation will stop future payments, but already-processed donations usually will not be refunded except as noted above. Instructions on how to cancel are provided at the time you set up the recurring donation (for example, via your account settings or through the payment processor’s management interface). If you need assistance cancelling a recurring donation, contact us.
Tax Deductibility: SlyAcademy’s status regarding tax-deductible donations may vary by jurisdiction. (For instance, if we are a registered non-profit in certain countries, your donation might be tax-deductible.) We will provide a receipt for your donation, but it is your responsibility to consult a tax professional regarding whether your donation is deductible in your area. Unless explicitly stated on our site, assume donations are not tax deductible.
Disclaimer of Warranties
“As-Is” Service: SlyAcademy is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we strive to provide high-quality educational content and a reliable platform, we make no warranty that the Service will meet your requirements or expectations, or that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Educational Content: The content on SlyAcademy is for general informational and educational purposes only. No guarantee is made as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information. For example, while we attempt to keep study guides up-to-date, academic curricula or best practices can change, and there may be errors or omissions. Use of the information is at your own risk. (Please also review our Educational Content Disclaimer and Medical Disclaimer, which provide more specific information about limitations of our content.)
No Professional Advice: SlyAcademy’s content includes topics like business, finance, and health. However, we are not providing professional advice (such as legal, financial, or medical advice). Any actions you take based on information on our site are solely at your own risk. Always conduct your own research and/or consult a certified professional for advice tailored to your situation.
Technology and Security: Although we employ security measures, we do not warrant that the Service will be free of viruses or other harmful components. You are responsible for implementing safeguards on your own devices (like antivirus software) to protect yourself.
Third-Party Content: Any links to third-party websites or resources are provided for convenience and informational purposes. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from those external sites. Your use of third-party sites is subject to their terms and conditions, and we make no warranties regarding those sites.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SlyAcademy disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the results of using the Service (e.g., your performance on exams, or outcomes from applying wellness tips) will be successful or as expected.
Limitation of Liability
Under no circumstances will SlyAcademy or its contributors, owners, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for lost profits, lost data, personal injury, or emotional distress, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In particular:
We will not be liable for any loss or damage caused by reliance on information obtained through SlyAcademy. This means we are not responsible if you suffer loss after acting on educational content (for example, financial loss from following an example in a crypto guide, or health issues from misapplying wellness information) – these are scenarios where you must use discretion and seek professional guidance as needed.
We will not be liable for any user submissions or the defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of any third party. If another user misuses the platform or posts inappropriate content, we are not responsible for their behavior; however, we encourage you to report such content so we can take appropriate action.
If you are dissatisfied with the Service or find it not meeting your needs, your sole remedy is to stop using SlyAcademy.
Our total cumulative liability to any user for any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount (if any) you have paid to SlyAcademy in the last 12 months (for example, donation amounts), or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (USD $50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. In such cases, liability is limited to the fullest extent allowable by applicable law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SlyAcademy and its officers, directors, contributors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and legal costs) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your violation of any of the provisions of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; or (d) your content or submission (if you post content that infringes someone’s rights or causes damage to someone, for example, you will bear the responsibility).
We reserve the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us in asserting any available defenses.
Third-Party Links and Resources
SlyAcademy’s content may include references or links to external websites, articles, or resources for further reading or citation purposes. We provide these links as a convenience to enhance your learning experience (for instance, a guide on economics might link to a reputable news article for a case study).
However, SlyAcademy has no control over and is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of such external resources. We do not endorse the content, products, services, or viewpoints expressed on third-party sites. If you click a third-party link, you do so at your own risk, and you should be aware that you will be subject to that third party’s terms and privacy policy.
We encourage you to exercise caution when visiting external sites: check their URL, verify their credibility, and review their privacy practices especially if you provide any information to them.
Any dealings you have with third parties found via SlyAcademy are between you and the third party. SlyAcademy will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from such interactions.
Modifications to the Service
We are constantly improving and updating SlyAcademy. Thus, we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service (or the entirety of it), temporarily or permanently, at any time. For example, we might add or remove features, change the organization of content, update our curriculum, or shut down a certain tool or section of the site.
We will try to give advance notice if any major changes will affect the availability of the Service (for instance, posting an announcement if we plan maintenance downtime or a significant change). However, such notice might not always be possible.
You agree that SlyAcademy shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service. If you are dissatisfied with any changes to the Service, your sole remedy is to stop using it.
Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms of Use from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on our website (typically accessible via a “Terms of Use” or “Terms and Conditions” link). We will update the “Last updated” date at the bottom of the Terms when we make changes.
For substantial changes, we may also provide additional notice to users (such as by email to registered users or a notification on our site) to inform you of the updates. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to review the Terms periodically for any changes.
By continuing to use SlyAcademy after any modifications to these Terms become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using the Service.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Country/State], without regard to its conflict of law principles.
If you reside outside of [Your Country], you understand and agree that you are using a service based in [Your Country]. To the extent permissible by local law, you also agree that any dispute or claim arising from these Terms shall be adjudicated in the courts of [Specify jurisdiction, e.g., the State of X, USA], and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts.
International Use: We recognize SlyAcademy is accessed worldwide, and different laws may apply in different jurisdictions. You agree that you will follow all local laws applicable to your use of the Service. If using SlyAcademy would be unlawful in your location, you must not use the Service.
Nothing in this section prevents consumers from benefiting from any mandatory protections afforded to them by the laws of their country of residence. If you are an EU consumer, for example, you may have the right to bring an action in your country of residence.
