Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

At SlyAcademy, we believe that education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of any disability or special needs. We are committed to making our online educational platform usable by all people, including those with vision, hearing, motor, or cognitive impairments. Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and to comply with applicable accessibility laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for web content and other international accessibility regulations.

By striving to meet these guidelines, we ensure our content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for a wide range of users. We view accessibility as an ongoing process and continuously seek to identify and correct issues to improve the user experience for all.

Accessibility Features

Here are some of the measures we have taken to make SlyAcademy accessible:

  • Semantic Structure: Our website is built with clean HTML5 structure. We use proper headings, lists, labels, and other HTML elements so that assistive technologies (like screen readers) can interpret the page content correctly. For example, headings on pages are organized in a logical outline, and form fields have associated labels.

  • Text Equivalents: We provide alternative text for meaningful images, diagrams, or non-text content. This means if an image contains information (like a chart or an infographic), a screen reader will convey that info via alt text. Purely decorative images have empty alt attributes or are marked in ways to be skipped by assistive tech.

  • Captions and Transcripts: If our content includes audio or video materials (like an explanatory video, or an audio narration of a lesson), we aim to provide synchronized captions for videos and transcripts for audio. This ensures deaf or hard-of-hearing users (as well as those who prefer reading or non-audio environments) can access the information.

  • Keyboard Navigation: Our site can be navigated using a keyboard alone, without a mouse. Interactive elements (like menus, links, buttons, form fields, quiz answer options) are reachable via the Tab key in a logical order. We also ensure that there are visible focus indicators (like a highlight outline) when using the keyboard, so users can clearly see which element is focused.

  • Color and Contrast: We have chosen a color scheme and designed our site to have sufficient contrast between text and background, meeting WCAG AA contrast ratios. This benefits users with low vision or color blindness. We avoid relying solely on color to convey important information (for example, instructions do not say “click the red button” without also labeling it).

  • Text Resizing: Users can use browser zoom or text-resize features and our layout will adapt accordingly (responsive design). We ensure content is still readable and doesn’t overflow or get cut off for up to at least 200% zoom. We avoid using fixed text sizes that can’t be changed by the user.

  • Accessible Forms and Controls: Any forms on SlyAcademy (like a sign-up form or a quiz answer submission) are built for accessibility. Labels or instructions are provided, form fields are in a logical sequence, and error messages or validations are presented in text (with suggestions for correction when appropriate). We also try to ensure that error indications are not solely by color but also include icons or text.

  • Avoiding Flashes and Animation: We do not have flashing content that could trigger seizures or cause distraction. Any multimedia or animations are generally mild. If there were any moving content, we’d provide a way to pause or stop it.

  • Compatibility with Assistive Technology: We test the site with various assistive technologies (such as screen readers like NVDA or JAWS, screen magnifiers, browser accessibility extensions) to catch potential issues. For example, we ensure that skip links (to jump to main content) are available for screen reader and keyboard users.

  • Device Independence: Whether on a desktop with a screen reader, on a mobile device with VoiceOver/TalkBack, or on a tablet with switch controls, SlyAcademy is designed to be functional. Our responsive design principles ensure that content reflows and interfaces adjust for different input methods (touch, keyboard, etc.).

Ongoing Efforts and Assessment

Accessibility is not a one-time effort; it’s integrated into our development process:

  • We involve accessibility checks in our design and development phases. New features are reviewed for compliance with accessibility guidelines.

  • We periodically conduct accessibility audits, which may include manual testing by team members or external experts, automated testing tools scanning our site for issues, and user testing with individuals who have disabilities.

  • We have partnered or consulted with accessibility specialists to help evaluate our site and suggest improvements.

  • Our team receives training on accessible content creation (for example, writing descriptive link text, structuring content clearly, and avoiding jargon for cognitive clarity).

We understand that standards may update (WCAG 2.2 or 3.0 in the future, for instance) and that new assistive technologies emerge. We are committed to staying current with best practices.

Third-Party Content

SlyAcademy may sometimes integrate third-party content or tools (such as an embedded YouTube video, or a third-party quiz widget). We do our best to choose third-party providers with strong accessibility support. However, there may be instances where third-party content is not fully accessible (e.g., an older video without captions, or a PDF document that’s not tagged for accessibility).

If you encounter third-party material on our site that is not accessible, please let us know. We will try to provide an accessible alternative or reach out to the provider for improvement. For example, if we link a scholarly article PDF that’s not accessible, we can assist by providing a text summary or alternative format upon request.

Feedback and Contact

We welcome feedback from all users regarding the accessibility of SlyAcademy. If you find any aspect of our site that is difficult to use, not fully accessible, or if you have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

When you contact us, please provide as much detail as possible: the page or feature you were using, what the problem was, what device or assistive technology you’re using, etc. This will help us troubleshoot and fix the issue more effectively.

We take feedback seriously and will do our best to respond promptly. Our goal is to resolve accessibility issues to the satisfaction of our users. If needed, we can provide the content you were trying to access in an alternate format while we work on a fix (for example, emailing you a plain text version of a page).

Accessibility Status

Currently, we believe SlyAcademy is in substantial conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA. We have addressed known major issues. Some minor issues may still exist and we are actively working on them. For instance, [if applicable, mention any specific gap] maybe something like: “We are aware that our science formula equations are images without perfect alt-text, and we’re working on better MathML support for screen readers.” – This is a hypothetical example.

We are continuously monitoring and improving. As of the last review (e.g., “March 2025”), third-party audit reports indicate that our site meets or exceeds required accessibility standards in most areas.

Legal Compliance

By making our site accessible, we not only do right by our users but also comply with accessibility-related laws such as Title III of the ADA in the United States, the European Accessibility Act, the UK Equality Act 2010, and others as applicable. We aim for universal design to preempt the need for special accommodations; however, if you require specific accommodation, please reach out.

Additional Aids

If you have trouble using the site, here are some tips that might help (beyond what we do):

  • Most modern browsers have built-in accessibility features or extension support. For example, you can enlarge text, enable high-contrast modes, or use reading mode (which strips page styling for clarity).

  • Operating systems often have tools like screen magnifiers, text-to-speech (even outside of screen readers, e.g., macOS has spoken content features).

  • There are third-party accessibility toolbar plugins (like “Accessibility Helper”) that some users install to adjust site presentation to their needs (though we try to avoid needing that).

Remember, if something’s not working for you, contacting us can often lead to a solution.

Ongoing Maintenance

This Accessibility Statement itself will be reviewed and updated as necessary. We will note the last updated date below. Our dedication to accessibility is ongoing – this is not a one-off statement but a reflection of our practices.

We thank you for visiting SlyAcademy and hope that our platform serves your educational needs effectively. Everyone has a right to learn, and we are devoted to removing barriers to education.

If you have any questions about accessibility that aren’t addressed here, or need assistance navigating our site, please contact us.
