PPM to PPB Conversion Calculator
How to convert ppm to ppb
ppm and ppb are defined as:
1ppm = 1/106 = 10-6
1ppb = 1/109 = 10-9
So
1ppm = 1000ppb
The number of parts-per billion xppb is equal to the number of parts-per million xppm multiplied by 1000:
xppb = xppm ⋅ 1000
Example: 7ppm is equal to 7000ppb:
xppb = 7ppm ⋅ 1000 = 7000ppb

How to Use This PPM to PPB Conversion Calculator:
Enter PPM Value:
- In the “Enter PPM” input box, type the number of parts per million (ppm) that you want to convert to parts per billion (ppb).
Click Convert:
- Press the “Convert” button. The calculator will multiply the ppm value by 1000 to give you the ppb equivalent.
- The result will appear in the “PPB Result” box.
Reset if Needed:
- If you want to clear the input and output fields, click the “Reset” button. This will reset the calculator, allowing you to enter a new ppm value.
Applications:
Environmental Monitoring:
- Useful for converting pollutant concentrations in the environment, such as in air or water quality assessments.
Laboratory Analysis:
- Common in chemistry and biology labs to express very low concentrations of substances.
Industrial Processes:
- Used to ensure that specific substances within products are within the allowable limits in parts per billion.
